Any 140-character loving guests attending the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Catherine (Kate) Middleton will be sorely disappointed, as signal-blocking technology will be installed at Westminster Abbey to nix cellphone use.
According to Yahoo, the idea was suggested by members of the royal family and confirmed by police and security. They hope nixing phones and tweeting will cut down on news photos and videos featuring cellphone-toting guests, distracting ringtones and info about the wedding getting out ahead of the ceremony.
The absence of Twitter at the actual event doesn’t mean the web will go silent, obviously — in fact, talk of the Royal Wedding is accelerating rapidly on Facebook and Twitter.
And, hey, at least no one will be fired during the event — a Buckingham Palace guard was already dismissed from his royal wedding day duties after calling the bride-to-be a “stuck up cow” and “posh bitch” on Facebook.

I have a rather gorgeous wedding for you, from my home town of Fowey in Cornwall (where we shot my Beloved shoot). It has been sent in by Richard Raynor who is Devon based photographer. This wedding is very personal to me, as it's the same place that Nik and I got married when we had our 'legal' wedding ceremony in the UK. we went down to Cornwall 2 weeks before our proper wedding in Ibiza to get the legal bits done. There was only 8 of us in total, so a very quite low key ceremony but we still wanted to do it somewhere that meant something to us, so Fowey it was and what better place than Fowey Hall Hotel!
The reality star tweeted her excitement stating, “Today is The Day! I can’t believe it’s finally here!”
She also added, “Thank you so much to everyone who made this day happen!!!!!”
The couple, that began dating in December, is set to get married in a lavish ceremony in the Montecito area of Santa Barbra, California at a mansion. She told Ryan Seacrest in an interview yesterday that she feels extremely calm about her big day but did admit to experiencing jitters and said, “I had my freak-out moment about a week ago.”
Kim’s stepdad, Bruce Jenner, who is a former Olympic athlete, is set to walk the bride down the aisle.
