It's mission is to be the world's largest financial support organization for the Asian elephant, which is threatened with extinction. The open air art exhibitions create worldwide attention, public awareness and support for the cause of elephant conservation: the elephant statues never go unnoticed by the wider public and mass media.
After the exhibition all elephants are auctioned off. The higher the quality of the art produced, the more money will be raised in aid of the Asian elephant conservation projects throughout Asia.
Elephant Parade is the world’s largest open-air exhibition dedicated to saving the Asian elephant from extinction. During a couple of months, hundreds of brightly coloured elephants swarm the streets of the city. Each elephant is a unique art object, painted by local and international artists. At the end of the exhibition the statues are auctioned by a renowned auction house, such as Christie’s or Sotheby’s. Part of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to The Asian Elephant Foundation, dedicated to selecting the project with the best profile in relation to saving the Asian elephant.
The Elephant Parade has made its way to Singapore.
Done up by artists and celebrities, the world's largest exhibition of painted elephants will be carrying a message of conservation to help protect the Asian elephant.
The 162 painted elephants will be dotted across the island till January from Orchard Road to the Marina Bay area and the Singapore Zoo.
